Ukraine enhancing the focus on grain processing

Grain export margin has reduced substantially in recent years due to persistently aggravating competition in this business. Consequently, an increasing number of grain market players are seeking to somehow raise their marginality. One of the ways out of the present situation is food grain processing.

In Ukraine, this market segment is represented mostly by flour, bran, groats and cornstarch.

Although Ukrainian production of flour has been dwindling since five years ago, its exports are persistently on the rise. They have doubled over the past five years and expanded fivefold since 2010, reports UkrAgroConsult.

According to UkrAgroConsult’s estimates, flour exports from Ukraine may set a new record in the 2017/18 season.

Along with growth in flour exports, wheat bran shipments from Ukraine constantly increase, too. Their volume has expanded almost two and a half times since 2010.

The cornstarch market is also a breakthrough for Ukraine.
