Ukraine exported some 5 MMT of sunflower oil


Despite a decline in shipments over the last four months, the seasonal volume remains close to a record level, reports UkrAgroConsult. So, 4963 KMT of sunflower oil was shipped abroad in September-July 2017/18 against 5428 KMT a year ago.

In July, the gap behind last season’s record widened to 8.5%. Sunflower oil exports from Ukraine totaled some 422 KMT in July 2017/18 that is down 3.2% from the previous month and down 17.3% from July 2016/17.

As before, the top destinations for Ukrainian sunflower oil exports include India (45% of total exports), EU countries (26%) and China (9%). At the same time, India increased purchases by 21.4% versus 2016/17 despite raised import duty, while the EU and China, on the contrary, reduced them by 17.5% and 13.9%, respectively. The total number of trading partners in the sunflower oil market exceeds 120 countries, including new export destinations.
