Ukraine. Fertilization of winter crops is 43% complete against 96% last year


The March 21-30 weather was still much cooler than usual. Precipitation of various intensities in the form of rain, snow, sleet occurred almost all over the country.

Plants of winter spiked cereals are now mostly in fair and good condition, depending on the predecessor and sowing date, reports UkrAgroConsult.

According to the Arable Farming Institute of the National Academy of Agricultural Sciences, winter cereals slowly resumed growth in late March as the average daytime air temperature exceeded +50С. However, the average daily air temperature has not yet steadily exceeded this threshold.

The Ag Ministry reports that 3105.0 Th ha of winter cereals (43% of forecast) were fertilized by March 29 that is far less than at the same time a year ago (6836 Th ha, 96%).
