Ukraine. Flour exports at a three-year low

01.10.2018

The first months of the new season feature a noticeable slowdown in Ukrainian flour exports. Just 13.8 KMT of flour was supplied to foreign markets in August 2018/19, i.e. 18.5% less than in July 2018 and 65.5% less than in August 2017.

Ukraine exported 30.7 KMT of flour during the first two months of MY 2018/19 (July - August), or 58.1% less than at the same time last season, reports UkrAgroConsult.

Flour production is also behind last year, though to a lesser degree than exports.  So, Ukrainian flour production in 2018 January - August was down 11.2% year-over-year at 1074.0 KMT against 1209.8 KMT at the same time in 2017.

The largest end markets for Ukrainian flour in the reporting period included Moldova, China, Palestine, Singapore, and the United Arab Emirates.

As a reminder, Ukraine exported record high volume of flour since 1996/97 season.
