Ukraine. Grain crop forecast for 2018

At the end of 2017 the State Statistics Committee published its figures on planted areas of winter crops. As UkrAgroConsult predicted, winter wheat plantings expanded appreciably, while barley and rye areas decreased to some extent.

Nevertheless, the total area planted to winter cereals for the 2018 harvest increased 1.3% from 2017, at the expense of wheat.

Owing to favorable weather conditions in the first winter month and high air temperatures, winter cereals have emerged on 99.6% of their area. This is the highest percentage in a few years, reports UkrAgroConsult.

However, despite such a good overall picture, some concerns do exist, too.

At the moment, UkrAgroConsult issues the 2018 grain crop outlook for staple cereals.
