Ukraine. Growers harvested 13 MMT of sunseed and 4 MMT of soybeans by late October

According to the Ag Ministry of Ukraine, sunseed had been harvested from 5815.6 Th ha by October 29, i.e. from 96% of its projected area of 6056.1 Th ha. The harvest is 3.7% ahead of 2017. The crop amounted to 13043.1 KMT with an average sunseed yield of 2.24 MT/ha (up 14.3% from 2017). By the same date a year ago, farmers harvested 10980 KMT of sunseed from 5608Th ha with an average yield of 1.96 MT/ha.

Soybeans had been harvested from 1582.6 Th ha by the reporting date (93% of their projected area of 1709.6 Th ha). Their harvest is now 6.1% behind last year. Farmers combined 4025.1 KMT of soybeans with an average yield of 2.54 MT/ha (+34.4% from 2017). A year ago, 3189 KMT was harvested from 1686 Th ha with an average yield of 1.89 MT/ha.

According to current reports, the planted area of winter rape is already as large as 1018.8 Th ha. This is 115% of the projected 888 Th ha and 20% more than a year ago (849 Th ha).
