Ukraine imported more than 100 KMT of palm oil


Ukraine imported 11.3 KMT of palm oil in January 2018, i.e. 9.6% less than in the previous month (12.5 KMT) and 2.6% less than in January 2017.

Palm oil imports to Ukraine hit a seven-year high of 101.7 KMT in September-January 2017/18, reports UkrAgroConsult. This is up almost 18% from the same time last season (86.2 KMT).

In the first five months of MY 2017/18, re-exports from Ukraine fell by 47.4% to 2 KMT against 3.8 KMT a year ago.

The range of palm oil importers to Ukraine still undergoes changes specific to the beginning of the current season. So, Indonesia further steps up supplies to the Ukrainian market, accounting for 77% of total imports there. Malaysia (7%), on the contrary, reduced commodity shipments and yielded its position to a new player – Honduras (12%). Another major exporter is still Columbia (3%), which also supplied palm oil to Ukraine for the first time in the 2017/18 season.
