Ukraine. In September wheat exports lowered

27.10.2016

In September 2016 Ukraine exported 2602.4 KMT wheat, which was 8% lower than in September 2015 (2817.7 KMT).

According to results of the first three months of 2016/17, Ukrainian exporters shipped 13% more wheat than over the same period last season (6177.9 KMT against 5480.4 KMT in July-September 2015/16).

Considerable increase is seen in the direction of South Korea, Bangladesh, Philippines and Morocco. Over three months of 2016/17 the volumes exported to these markets exceeded total amount, shipped in 2015/16. Lower volumes were shipped in the destination of EU countries. In July-September 2016/17 Ukraine exported 57% less wheat than over the same period 2015/16 (325.7 KMT against 750.8 KMT in July-September 2015/16). Higher volumes were exported to Indian market – 374 KMT over the reporting period of 2016/17.

Moreover, in September 2016, 60 KMT of Ukrainian wheat were exported to Saudi Arabia, which is the largest importer of Ukrainian barley. Last season Saudi Arabia was not among buyers of Ukrainian wheat. Last time shipments to this country were seen in August 2014 (18.7 KMT). Traditionally the EU exports wheat to this destination (about 2.5 MMT or 70-85% of the country`s import demand), but considering troubles with the new EU wheat crop, Ukrainian exporters can increase shipment to this country.
