Ukraine increased corn exports two and a half times in May


Ukraine exported 2654 KMT of corn in May 2017 that is up 36% from April 2017 (1946 KMT) and two and a half times more than in May 2016 (1002 KMT).

Ukrainian exporters shipped abroad 18.186 MMT of corn for just nine months of the current season, up 19% from MY 2015/16, UkrAgroConsult notes.

In the period under review, the European Union absorbed 40% of total exports from Ukraine against 51% in 2015/16 season. At the same time, Ukrainian exporters have managed to substantially increase corn shipments to Egypt and Iran this season.

It should be added that Ukraine has been restoring deliveries of its corn to the Chinese market in the recent months. 870 KMT of Ukrainian corn was supplied to China in the above months. Also, according to preliminary information of market participants, another more than 500 KMT is planned for export in June.
