Ukraine increased corn starch exports by 35%

In 2015/16 Ukraine exported 31.58 KMT of corn starch, which was 35% higher than exports in the 2014/15 season – 23.45 KMT, reports UkrAgroConsult.

Indonesia was the key importer, which purchased nearly 200% more Ukrainian corn starch in 2015/16 MY compared to the previous season. In 2015/16 Ukrainian exporters shipped about 18 KMT to this country, or 57% of total corn starch exports. Share of Russia (largest importer in 2014/15) decreased to 29%
totaling 9.17 KMT in 2015/16 (-27%). There were no considerable changes on the other export markets. Persistent demand is seen from EU and CIS countries.

Increase in export shipments was preconditioned by higher corn starch production in Ukraine. Since the beginning of 2016 Ukraine produced about 46.4 KMT of corn starch, which was 16.5% higher than over the same period last year (about 39.8 KMT in January-September 2015).
