Ukraine increasingly focused on the bottled sunoil market

Prior to 2007, Ukraine’s packed sunoil market featured an upward trend in production volumes. A record 385 KMT of sunoil was manufactured in 2007. The rise in output of the bottled product stemmed from intensifying exports along with rapidly strengthening demand from Ukrainian consumers. However, the market trend reversed in the 2008/09 season, when sunoil bottling started to gradually shrink in MY 2016/17.

The shrinkage of the bottled sunoil segment results from a general decline in domestic demand for foods, as well as from saturation of the domestic market. This is the fact pushing Ukrainian manufacturers of packed sunoil to look for consumers abroad and come to export markets, reports UkrAgroConsult.

Consequently, the 2016/17 season saw more than three times as high exports as registered in MY 2011/12. The range of export destinations of bottled sunoil is quite wide: it embraced over 100 countries.

In view of growing exports and the opening of new export markets for bottled sunoil, the idea of promoting a national brand does look somewhat feasible and the main goal – “Set the trends instead of following the competing markets!” – appears to be quite achievable.
