Ukraine. Interest in soybean cultivation to grow in 2017


The Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry of Ukraine announced preliminary crop planting forecasts for the 2017 harvest. Planted acreage is expected to remain at the 2016 level, specifically 26.8 Ml ha, reports UkrAgroConsult.

The largest portion of total planted area (54%) is allocated to cereals. According to this preliminary report, sunflower will be sown on 5.36 Ml ha (20% of total planted area) against 6.3 Ml ha a year earlier. 1.93 Ml ha (7.2%) will be seeded with soybeans, or 4.3% more than last year (1.85 Ml ha in 2016).

As a reminder, UkrAgroConsult predicts sunflower plantings to remain at 6.3 Ml ha and the interest in soybean cultivation to grow with plantings consequently up at 1.95 Ml ha.
