Ukraine. More than 1.6 Ml ha of sunflower planted to date


April’s weather deterioration slowed down planting of oil crops, reports UkrAgroConsult.

According to the Ag Ministry of Ukraine, sunflower was planted on an area of 1684.7 Th ha as of April 24. This is 31% of the projected 5390.3 Th ha (official data). 2665 Th ha was sown to sunflower by the same date last year.

Soya planting continues in Ukraine since April 7. As of April 24, it was completed on an area of 67.4 Th ha that is 3% of this crop’s projected area (1948.4 Th ha officially). The largest areas were sown in the regions of Kirovohrad (15.9 Th ha), Kherson (13.9 Th ha) and Khmelnytsky (6.5 Th ha). The current planted area is already six and a half times smaller than at the same time last year (435 Th ha).
