Ukraine. Oilseed harvest performance improved over the last week


Ukrainian farmers continue harvesting oilseeds. As of October 3, sunseed was harvested from 4145.6 Th ha that is 70% of its planned area of 5937.9 Th ha. The crop amounted to 7936.2 KMT with a yield of 1.91 MT/ha. Over the last week, the harvest progress has caught up with last year (up 6.3%). The yield is still 11% lower than in 2016, reports UkrAgroConsult.

As of October 3, soybeans were harvested from 997.4 Th ha (down 6.8% from last year) out of the planned 1991.6 Th ha. Farmers got 1768.2 KMT of beans (down 22.6% year-on-year) with a yield of 1.77 MT/ha (down 17% year-on-year).

In addition, the planting of winter rape is drawing to an end. 800.2 Th ha was sown by October 3 that is 3% above the target area of 776.7 Th ha. The planting progress is 11% ahead of last year. So, 718 Th ha was seeded to winter rape a year ago.
