Ukraine. Over 86% of winter grains coming out of winter dormancy in good and fair condition


Owing to favorable weather that dominated Ukraine this winter, winter grains condition as of February 21, 2019 was the best in five years. 99.2% of winter grains had emerged by that date, reports UkrAgroConsult.

In addition, Ukrainian growers continue spring fertilization of winter grains. As of February 25, 2019, they had fertilized 30% of winter wheat (1915.7 Th ha), 7% of rye (8.4 Th ha) and 40% of barley (398.5 Th ha). Overall, 31% of winter grains (2322.5 Th ha) had been fertilized by the reporting date compared with 15% as of March 01, 2018.

99.3% of winter rape had emerged as of February 21, 2019. 51.2 Th ha of winter rape (50% of forecast) had been fertilized by February 21.
