Ukraine. Pace of corn harvesting already 11% ahead of last year


As of November 29, corn was harvested from 4037 Th ha (3643 Th ha in 2016) that is 90% of its planned area of 4504 Th ha. The crop amounted to 21.63 MMT (22.92 MMT) with an average yield of 5.36 MT/ha (6.29 MT/ha), reports UkrAgroConsult.

In total, cereals and pulses were harvested from 14.08 Ml ha with a crop of 59.92 MMT and an average yield of 4.26 MT/ha (62.07 MMT and 4.54 MT/ha, respectively, in 2016).

The planting of winter cereals is almost complete. They were planted on 6912 Th ha by November 29 (96% out of the projected 7228 Th ha). Winter wheat and triticale were planted on 5943 Th ha (97%) against 5909 Th ha in 2016. At the same time, winter barley was sown on 822 Th ha (89%) and winter rye on 147 Th ha (93%).
