Ukraine. Port of Chornomorsk signed a memorandum with Hutchison Ports


The Chornomorsk commercial seaport signed a memorandum with the world’s top port operator Hutchison Ports.

Its subject is cooperation of the parties in the development of container handling. The specific points agreed upon include the company’s entry into the port as a terminal operator in 2017. Besides, Hutchison intends to provide expertise and consultative assistance for reforming Ukraine’s port sector.

Reportedly, according to a technical assessment, Chornomorsk Port is potentially capable of handling 1 MMT of cargoes. “By combining Ukraine’s transit potential with up-to-date technologies of Hutchison Port, the port of Chornomorsk could become an important international cargo hub,” stressed Hutchison Port’s CEO.

The parties agreed that Hutchison Port is to become Chornomorsk Port’s operator as soon as 2017. Hutchison Port Holdings Group does not rule out its entry into other markets of Ukraine in the future.
