Ukraine. Rapeseed meal exports at a three-year low

June 2018 saw this season’s lowest monthly volume of Ukrainian rapeseed meal exports (0.118 KMT) – this normally happens in the last months of each marketing year. Total meal exports during MY 2017/18 (July-June) hit a three-year low of 65.4 KMT, down almost 16% from a year ago (77.8 KMT), reports UkrAgroConsult.

As before, the biggest importer of Ukrainian rapeseed meal is the European Union, which absorbs 78% of total exports of this product from Ukraine. The second place in terms of import volumes is held by Israel (12%). Turkey, having resumed rapeseed meal purchases this season after a pause in MY 2016/17, became the third largest buyer with a 5% share.

According to UkrAgroConsult’s estimates, domestic rapeseed processing is expected to increase in the new 2018/19 season (+32%). This will reverse the export trade trend of the last two seasons: export potential will get back to 100 KMT.
