Ukraine. Rapeseed planting advances 24% ahead of last year


The rapeseed harvest is drawing to an end in Ukraine. In total, this oilseed was harvested from 777.9 Th ha by August 28, 2017 (99% of the planned harvest area of 786.7 Th ha – official data). Farmers got 2146.6 KMT of rapeseed with a yield of 2.76 MT/ha. This year’s rapeseed yield is not only 7.8% higher than in 2016 (2.56 MT/ha), but also close to the 2004/05 record (2.81 MT/ha).

In addition, growers continue planting winter rapeseed, reports UkrAgroConsult. This work was 55% complete by August 28: they sowed 429.3 Th ha out of the projected 776.1 Th ha. This crop’s planting advances 24% ahead of last year. So, 346 Th ha was sown to winter rape a year ago.
