Ukraine. Rye yield up 7% from last year

As of July 26, Ukrainian farmers harvested 6,114 Th ha of early cereals and pulses (63% of the plan) against 6,715 Th ha by July 26, 2016. They got 21,584 KMT with an average yield of 3.53 MT/ha against 24,789 KMT with a yield of 3.69 MT/ha at the same time a year ago.

This included 14,862 KMT of wheat harvested from 3,946 Th ha (62% of the planned 6361 Th ha) against last year’s 4,196 Th ha. Its yield averaged 3.77 MT/ha (3.96 MT/ha in 2016). Barley was harvested from 1,788 Th ha (71% of the planned 2,536 Th ha) against 2254 Th ha by the same date last year. The crop amounted to 5,758 KMT with an average yield of 3.22 MT/ha (7,386 KMT with a 3.28 MT/ha yield in 2016).

Also, farmers harvested 893 KMT from 352 Th ha (87% of the forecast 405 Th ha) with an average yield of 2.54 MT/ha. By July 26, 2016, they got 674 KMT from 213 Th ha with an average yield of 3.17 MT/ha.

At the same time, 47 KMT of rye was harvested from 18 Th ha with an average yield of 2.55 MT/ha. A year ago, its crop reached 84 KMT from 35 Th ha with an average yield of 2.39 MT/ha.

The harvest of early cereals and pulses still lags far behind last year’s pace, with peas being the only exception.
