Ukraine. Slower start of winter rapeseed harvest

Farmers in Odesa, Kherson, Mykolaiv, Zaporizhia and Dnipropetrovsk regions of Ukraine have started harvesting winter rapeseed. According to official data, as of July 04, they harvested 30 KMT of this crop from 14.8 Th ha (2% of the planned 821.2 Th ha) with a yield of 2.04 MT/ha, reports UkrAgroConsult.

At the initial stage, the harvest progress still lags behind last year. Current yields are also lower (down 9.3% from 2016). So, a year ago, rapeseed was already harvested from 29 Th ha out of its 516 Th ha harvest area with a crop of 66 KMT and a yield of 2.25 MT/ha. In addition, not only southern farmers were already harvesting rapeseed at this time last year, but also growers in Central Ukraine.
