Ukraine. Social foods prices are hovering


In September 2016, strong public interest was aroused by the Cabinet’s decision to cancel state regulation of prices and mark-ups for socially sensitive goods, reports UkrAgroConsult.

This pilot project was started on October 1, 2016 for a three-month period until the beginning of 2017. The project is aimed to prove the expediency of Ukraine’s current price regulation under which price increases by more than 1% a month must be declared.

UkrAgroConsult has decided to track the behavior of consumer prices from the middle of the project duration period. The results of the cereal foods price analysis appeared ambiguous and even somewhat surprising because they indicated no significant price growth for most of the commodity items.
