Ukraine. Some 0.5 Ml ha of sunflower left to be harvested


The harvest of oilseeds in Ukraine is entering its final stage. As of October 23, farmers harvested sunseed from 5442.6 Th ha (92% out of the planned 5937.9 Th ha) with a crop of 10,623.5 KMT and a yield of 1.95 MT/ha. The harvest pace is 8.8% ahead of last year. The yield is down 11% from 2016, reports UkrAgroConsult.

As of October 23, soybeans were harvested from 1559.8 Th ha (up 5.3% year-on-year) out of the planned 1991.6 Th ha. The bean crop amounted to 2920.5 KMT (down 9% year-on-year) with a yield of 1.87 MT/ha (down 13.8% year-on-year).

In addition, winter rape planting is close to an end. This work was complete on 839 Th ha by October 23 that is up 8% from the projected 776.7 Th ha. The planting pace is 7.8% ahead of last year. So, 778 Th ha was seeded to winter rape a year ago.
