Ukraine sows 159,000 hectares of 2019 spring grain so far


Ukrainian farmers have so far sown 159,000 hectares of spring grain crops for the 2019 harvest, or 7 percent of the expected area of early spring grain crops, the agriculture ministry said on Monday.

Farmers have sown 103,000 hectares of barley, 48,000 hectares of peas and 6,000 hectares of wheat, it said in a statement.

Ukraine plans to sow a total of 7.2 million hectares of spring grains, and corn is likely to dominate.
