Ukraine. Soya planting outpaced last year’s


According to the Ag Ministry of Ukraine, sunflower planting was completed on 5223.1 Th ha by May 22 that is 97% of the planned 5390.3 Th ha (official data). Planting runs 4.8% ahead of last year’s pace. 4985 Th ha of sunflower was sown at the same time a year ago, reports UkrAgroConsult.

As of May 22, soya was sown on 1753 Th ha that is 90% of its officially forecast area of 1948.4 Th ha. Due to this speed-up, planting operation not only caught up with last year’s pace but even outstripped it by 1.6%. So, soya plantings totaled 1725 Th ha as of the same date in 2016.
