Ukraine. State Regulatory Service does not approve increase of railway tariffs

10.10.2017

Following the discussion of draft order of the Ministry of Infrastructure on railway tariffs increase, the increase should be reconsidered, and this issue should go through an open procedure for discussion. Business representatives were invited to prepare their proposals, and Ukrainian Ministry of Infrastructure - to justify such level of tariffs, funds from which Ukrzaliznytsia can actually allocate for development this year, reports UkrAgroConsult.

As a reminder, the Ministry of Infrastructure proposed to increase tariffs for goods transportation by railway inside the country by 22.5% from October 01, 2017. However, the State Regulatory Service of Ukraine receives numerous appeals from market participants about an inexpediency of such a step. In addition, analysis of proposals submitted by Ukrzaliznytsia speaks of the need to take into account the economic conditions in which tariffs are proposed to be raised.

In particular, Ukrzaliznytsia proposed to raise them from October 2017, when the financial year is already over, and tariffs increase is not included in budgets of companies. According to business structures, changes in tariffs are possible only from the beginning of the next year.
