Ukraine. Sunseed exports at a minimum level

Ukraine exported 1.9 KMT of sunseed in July 2018. This is down 64% from the previous month, but up 19% from July 2017.

Export shipments in the current 2017/18 season (September-July) were much lower than a year ago (36.8 KMT against 189.4 KMT, respectively), reports UkrAgroConsult. In addition, in the period since 2000, lower sunseed exports in these months were only registered in MY 2004/05 (just some 11 KMT). Exporters cannot withstand competition with domestic crushers for the raw material.

In the current 2017/18 season, the sunseed export market in Ukraine features not only a decreased number of importers, but also narrowing of remaining end markets.

At the same time, European countries absorbed almost 80% of total sunseed exports. Turkey received 6%, Libya and Iran accounted for 2% each, but the volumes shipped there did not exceed 2 KMT.
