Ukraine. The majority of winter cereals are in good and fair condition

According to information of the North-East Agriculture Institute available as of December 7, the physiological state of winter wheat plants sown before September 20 is good and fair. So, plants sown on September 1 are at the tillering stage. Their height ranges within 13.8-17.6 cm. Plants sown on September 10 are also at the tillering stage with a height of 13.3 to 17.1 cm. In the fields sown on September 20, plants mostly have three leaves each and are no higher than 10 cm. Crops planted on October 1 have 2-3 leaves per plant and their height averages 8.0 cm. Where sown on October 10, plants developed 1-2 leaves. Such crops are characterized as weak.

The future state of plants – this concerns particularly weak and sparse ones – will depend on weather, primarily on precipitation rates and air temperatures. Seedlings of winter crops sown on later dates (specifically after October 20) have not normally emerged, reports UkrAgroConsult.
