Ukraine wants to extend the Trans-Caspian route to the Baltics

Ukraine must reserve the geopolitical position of the first European nation on the Silk Road. At the same time, the Baltic States may become a possible direction for extending the route, said Vice Premier Hennadiy Zubko.

The launch of an additional transport corridor from the Black Sea to the Baltics is under way now, reports UkrAgroConsult. It will be serviced by the Viking train with freight traffic tentatively reaching 1 MMT.

The vice premier also expressed confidence that Hungary, Slovakia and Poland are interested to have the freight traffic flow from Central Asia going exactly through Ukraine.
