Ukraine. Winter cereals continue growing

The first half of November featured mostly comparatively warm weather for this time of year, with rain of various intensities. The average air temperature was 1-5°С above normal, staying within 5-9°С. The average daily air temperature temporarily lowered below +5°С on October 23. However, noteworthy is that plants of winter cereals continued growing from October 27, once air temperatures rose to +5-10°С.

The cool weather in November slows down plant development, which lags 2-3 weeks behind the long-term average pace, reports UkrAgroConsult.

According to a survey of winter cereals conducted by research institutions on November 8-10, winter wheat and triticale sown after bare fallow on September 10-25 are at the best condition. Their plants are at the 2nd stage of organogenesis with a density at 91-97% of the projected one. Most of crops sown on October 5 are at the three-leaf stage.
