Ukraine. Winter rape crops in the best condition in four years


It was very warm on December 11-14 for this time of year. Depending on the region, the average daily air temperature was within 0-13°С, or 2-16°С above normal. Air temperature peaked at 8-16°С on warm days (south of the country) and bottomed out at 2-7°С (the eastern and western regions).

Weather events typical of both winter and fall seasons were observed on December 1-14: fogs, rains, sleet, snow, generation and melting of snow cover. Precipitation occurred during 2-10 days almost all over the country. In most regions its December 1-10 average rate ranged within 155-387% of normal (24 to 61 mm), being just 62-100% of normal in Dnipropetrovsk and Kherson regions. Most parts of Luhansk and Donetsk regions and some parts of Kherson and Dnipropetrovsk regions received at most 1-5 mm of precipitation at the time, reports UkrAgroConsult.

According to the Ag Ministry’s data as of December 14, winter rape emerged on 98.5% out of its planted 870.7 Th ha, including 56.4% currently in good condition.
