Ukraine's economic growth in 2018 reached seven-year high – NBU governor


According to preliminary forecasts of the National Bank of Ukraine, GDP growth in 2018 amounted to 3.4%, which is the highest figure in the past seven years.

Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine Yakiv Smoliy said this at a briefing after the presentation of the National Bank’s action plan during the NBU’s meeting with clients and partners, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

"GDP growth for nine months of 2018 was 3.8%. Our forecast for the end of 2018 is 3.4%, which is a record figure for the past seven years," Smoliy said.

He also noted that last year Ukraine managed to achieve a slowdown in inflation. Thus, according to the results of 2018, it was 9.8%, which is the best figure for the last five years.
