Ukrainian exports of flour keep expanding despite its shrinking production

In May 2017, Ukrainian flour production amounted to 139.26 KMT that is somewhat more than at the same time last year (up 3.7%). Nevertheless, Ukraine’s flour output for the five months of the current year 2017 decreased 1.5% to 762.97 KMT.

Still, the drop in production of wheat and wheat-rye flour was not so significant in this period: down 0.5% to 724.81 KMT. Flour production from other grains contracted by 19.4% to 36.64 KMT, while pulse flour output was down 6.4% at 0.86 KMT.

Nevertheless, Ukrainian exporters continue stepping up flour shipments abroad, reports UkrAgroConsult.

The country exported 36.13 KMT of flour in May, or up 18.7% year-on-year. A total 366.18 KMT of flour was shipped from Ukraine to foreign markets in July 2016 – May 2017. This is already 6.4% more than for the whole last season.
