Ukrainian farmers picking up the pace of soya planting


According to the Ag Ministry of Ukraine, sunflower was sown on 4800.4 Th ha as of May 15 that is 89% out of the projected 5390.3 Th ha (official data). A boost in planting increased the advance over last year to more than 5%: 4565 Th ha of sunflower was planted at the same time last year.

As of May 15, soya was planted on an area of 1483.1 Th ha that represents 76% of the officially forecast 1948.4 Th ha. The lag behind last year remains, though it shrank to 4.9% this past week, reports UkrAgroConsult. So, soya plantings already totaled 1560 Th ha on the same date in 2016.
