Ukrainian farmers planted 5% more winter rape than forecast


The harvest of oilseeds continues in Ukraine. As of October 9, sunseed was harvested from 4794.9 Th ha (81% of the planned 5937.9 Th ha). Its crop amounted to 9174.2 KMT with a yield of 1.91 MT/ha. The pace of harvesting is 7.6% ahead of last year, but sunseed yield is down 12.4% from 2016, reports UkrAgroConsult.

As of October 6, soybeans were harvested from 1210.6 Th ha (down 0.7% year-on-year) out of the planned 1991.6 Th ha. The crop amounted to 2194.7 KMT (down 16.8% year-on-year) with a yield of 1.81 MT/ha (down 16% year-on-year).

In addition, the planting of winter rape is drawing to an end. Farmers completed it on 812.9 Th ha by October 6 that is 5% more than its planned area of 776.7 Th ha. This work is progressing 8% ahead of last year. So, winter rape was sown on 752 Th ha a year ago.
