Ukrainian farmers started harvesting sunseed and soybeans

The rapeseed harvest in Ukraine is drawing to an end. Overall, it was completed on 777 Th ha by August 21, 2017 that is 99% of the 786.7 Th ha intended for harvest (official data). The crop amounted to 2145.8 KMT with a yield of 2.76 MT/ha.

The harvest progress is 71.1% ahead of last year and yields are 7.8% higher than in 2016. So, farmers harvested rapeseed from 100% of its harvest acreage a year ago, with an oilseed crop of 1162 KMT and a yield of 2.56 MT/ha.

In addition, farmers have started harvesting sunseed and soybeans, reports UkrAgroConsult. As of August 21, they harvested 1.8 KMT of sunseed from 1.4 Th ha (0.02% of the plan) with a yield of 1.4 MT/ha. Soybeans were harvested from 0.1 Th ha out of the planned 1991.6 Th ha. The bean crop amounted to 0.2 KMT with a yield of 2.0 MT/ha.

The planting of winter rape is gaining pace in Ukraine. This work was completed on 280 Th ha (36% of the projected area) by August 21 against 139 Th ha (19% of the plan) at the same time a year ago.
