Ukrainian grain producer Vimeksim eyes Novi Sad port in Serbia

Ukrainian grain and oilseed producer Vimeksim is interested in the privatisation of the Danubian port of Novi Sad, in the Serbian province of Vojvodina, local media reported over the weekend.

The company’s main goal is to set up reloading capacities on the Danube and establish a connection with both Ukraine and partners throughout the EU, as well as to support the company's expansion in the Middle East and the Far East via the Romanian port of Constanta and the Black Sea, the company's director Sergey Doskach told daily Dnevnik on Sunday.

Vimeksim believes that the Port of Novi Sad has a great potential, he added.

Doskach also said that Vimeksim plans to soon build a silo and a warehouse in Backa.

The company stepped in Vojvodina in 2015.

Vimeksim’s annual turnover exceeds 0.50 billion euro ($0.55 billion), as annual exports top one million tonnes. The company farms over 24,000 ha of own land.
