Ukrainian palm oil imports hit a four-year high


Palm oil imports to Ukraine increased to almost 22 KMT in July 2016/17. This is up 37% from the previous month (16 KMT) and up 78% from July 2016 (12.3 KMT). Total import statistics for the eleven months of MY 2016/17 are also higher than last year.

September-July palm oil imports to Ukraine hit a four-year high: 183.5 KMT against 165.2 KMT at the same time last year, reports UkrAgroConsult.

The 2016/17 season witnessed change of the top palm oil importers that is typical for the Ukrainian market of this product in some periods of time. Indonesia expanded its share in Ukrainian imports to the largest size since MY 2006/07, as it boosted shipments to 157.3 KMT against 54.8 KMT a year earlier. Now the country accounts for some 86% of the entire market. Malaysia, correspondingly, reduced its market share from 60% to 13%.
