Ukrainian winter cereals still mostly in good condition


Mild frost and minor precipitation were seen on February 11-15. The average daily air temperature in Ukraine was within a range of -7°С to +7°С, i.e. 1-11°С above normal. The air temperatures peaked at +3-9°С in Kherson, Dnipropetrovsk, Kirovohrad regions on the warmest days (February 9-11) and bottomed out at -10-16°С in Kharkiv, Kyiv, Sumy, Vinnytsia regions at cold nights (February 14).

Precipitation in the form of snow, sleet and rain occurred almost all over the country. Its rates ranged from 4-13 mm (Kherson region) to 30 mm (Vinnytsia region), reports UkrAgroConsult.

In general, no phenomena adverse to winter cereals were observed in Ukraine during the last week. Crops are still dormant with their condition being rated good and fair. The sugar content in tillering nodes of winter cereals ranges within 12-32%, depending on the region, crop, variety, planting date and winter conditions.
