US DDGS production rises 5% in December: USDA


US production of dried distillers grains with solubles rose 5% in December compared with November, and rose 8% from the same month a year earlier, Department of Agriculture data showed on Wednesday.

In its monthly Current Agricultural Industrial Report on grain crushings and co-product production, the agency said dry mill producers created 2.1 million st of DDGS in December. That amount compares to 1.995 million st in November and 1.941 million st in December 2015. Dry mill producers also produced 143,942 st of corn oil, compared to 147,336 st in November and 130,652 st in December 2015.

DDGS are co-product of ethanol production and are used for livestock feed in domestic and foreign feedlots.
