US pork exports to Asean up 20%


US pork exports to Asean rose 20% in volume and 31% in value in the first four months of 2018, data from the US Meat Export Federation showed. As of end-April, the US shipped 15,435 tonnes of pork meat worth USD 43.8 billion to Asean, with the Philippines as the leading destination, accounting for 12,909 tonnes valued at nearly USD 33 million, up 15% and 17% respectively from the same period last year.

Meanwhile, US pork exports to Vietnam reached 1449 tonnes valued at USD 6.3 million, rising by 122% and 267%, respectively year on year.
