US pork exports to China to hit 500,000t in 2016

The US Meat Export Federation (USMEF) said exports of US pork to China this year are expected to range from 400,000-500,000 tonnes with a value of USD 500-600 million. “These figures will be 80-90% higher than last year,” Joel Haggard, Senior Vice President for Asia Pacific, told Asian Agribiz. In the first three quarters, exports- including variety meats and by-products - reached 252,000 tonnes valued at USD 440 million.

“US pork prices are expected to stay low through this year and next due to expanding domestic production and supply availability,” Mr Haggard said.
