Vietnam replaced Egypt as a top buyer of Romanian wheat

In October 2016 Romania exported 342 KMT of wheat, almost doubled shipments compared to October 2015 (179 KMT), but did not beat record for this month, observed in October 2013 (504 KMT) after record high exports in the previous months, reports UkrAgroConsult. Total wheat volume, exported over July-October 2016/17 equaled 3150 KMT, which was a new record for Romania.

In October 2016 Egypt, Djibouti, Israel, Jordan and Morocco were the largest buyers of Romanian wheat.  Peculiar was the purchase of such untraditional buyer as Congo – 16.5 KMT.  No purchases were observed from Vietnam and Ethiopia.

Over July-October 2016/17 (July- October) Vietnam became key importer of Romanian wheat (755 KMT), replacing Egypt, which imported 285.4 KMT (435.6 KMT over July-October 2015/16), informs UkrAgroConsult. Jordan remains at the third place, increasing purchases against the same period last year.

Higher volumes were shipped to Italy and Morocco, while Spain decreased purchases to 201 KMT due to higher wheat crop in 2016/17 against 321 KMT over the reporting period in 2015/16.
