We have three key objectives in forming trade policy of Ukraine, says Olga Trofimtseva

Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine has three key objectives in the area of agricultural trade policy and development of export markets. This was stated by Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine on European Integration Olga Trofimtseva during the Food Exporters Congress «Ukrainian Food 2016".

"The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine has three priority tasks for the development of export markets and the formation of trade policy in general. At first, this is the diversification of commodity structure of Ukrainian agricultural exports, such as increasing the share of value-added products in total exports. Second, it is the geographical diversification of exports - the expansion of markets. And third, it is expanding the range of exporters by increasing the number of small and medium producers and processors that would be able to export their products, and therefore enhance their competitiveness", the Deputy Minister said.

According to Olga Trofimtseva, the increase of volumes of processed products is a great opportunity. For ten months of 2016 exports of agricultural products amounted to more than $ 11 billion. The share of products with high added value now stands at about 25% in total agroexport and has the potential to increase. "European markets are strategically attractive for Ukrainian niche products and processed foods. But also we have many other promising export destinations. These are Asian countries - namely Japan, South Korea. Also, South Africa, Middle East, Canada.

Despite the distance and the difficult logistics, thanks to the high quality and competitiveness, Ukrainian products can occupy new niches in these markets. We as the Ministry will support our food exporters in entering those markets which are interesting to them", Olga Trofimtseva said.
