Wheat inventories in Ukraine dropped 11.3%


GRAINS. According to the State Statistics Service, stocks of cereals and pulses in Ukraine totaled 19.0 MMT as of August 1, 2018. This is less 12.8% % from the same date last year (21.9 MMT), reports UkrAgroConsult.

At the time, wheat stocks were less 11.3% at 13.1 MMT versus 14.8 MMT on August 1, 2017. Barley inventories grew by 19.8% from a year ago, to a bit more than 1 MMT against 840 KMT in August 2017.

Corn stocks expanded too. They totaled 2.52 MMT as of the reporting date that is 18% more than a year ago (2.14 MMT).

OILCROPS. According to current information of the State Statistics Service, sunseed stocks in Ukraine totaled 678.3 KMT as of August 1, 2018 that is down 7% from the same date last year (729.4 KMT). This included 426.9 KMT held on farms (down 43.9 KMT, or 11.5% from August 1, 2017) and 251.4 KMT at storage and processing facilities (down 95 KMT, or 27.4% on the year).

As of August 1, 2018, crusher soybean stocks were down 55.6% year-on-year at 60.2 KMT against 135.7 KMT on August 1, 2017. Rapeseed stocks as of the reporting date were much higher than a year ago (1276.5 KMT against 988.4 KMT, respectively) due to an earlier start of this year’s harvest.
